Viking to Publish Anthony Fauci's Memoir
Viking will publish On Call: Doctor’s Journey in Public Service, a memoir by Anthony Fauci, on June 18. Wendy Wolf at Viking acquired world rights, audio, and first serial, from Robert B. Barnett and Emily Alden at Williams & Connolly.
“Dr. Fauci’s memoir will reach back to his boyhood in Brooklyn, New York, his decades of dedication to caring for critically ill patients, and his many scientific accomplishments, and carry through close relationships with seven presidents,” his publisher said. Fauci added, in a statement: “I hope that this memoir will serve as a personalized document for the reader to understand better the daunting challenges that we have faced in public health over the past forty years. I would also like to inspire younger individuals in particular to consider careers in public health and public service.”
Fauci served as Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health from 1984 to 2022. He is currently a Distinguished University Professor at Georgetown University with a joint appointment in the School of Medicine and the McCourt School of Public Policy.
