Craig Popelars Joins Milkweed as V-p of Sales and Marketing
Craig Popelars has joined Minneapolis-based indie press Milkweed Editions in the newly created role of v-p of sales and marketing.
Popelars previously served as publisher of Portland-based indie press Tin House Books for for years, before departing last fall. Prior to that, he served as associate publisher and director of marketing at sales at Algonquin Books, where he worked for 25 years.
In these two roles, he helped launch and promote such authors as Hanif Abdurraqib, Julia Alvarez, Ross Gay, and Morgan Talty.
“I’ve admired Milkweed’s storied publishing program ever since I wrote my very first bookstore shelf-talker for Larry Watson’s Montana 1948 way back in 1993," said Popelars in a statement. "I’m both honored and excited to join an indie program that’s dedicated to publishing such important, engaging, and inspiring books and authors.”
