Glénat Éditions to Expand into Own English-Language Rights Representation
Effective November 8, VIP Brands Ltd., the international comics licensing group run by Ivanka Hahnenberger, will no longer represent Glénat Éditions, the Grenoble, France–based publisher of comics, graphic novels, and manga, which has subsidiaries in Barcelona, Brussels, and Nyon, Switzerland. Glénat will be rolling the world English rights of its comics and graphic novels representation into their foreign rights division. However, until that time, Hahnenberger and VIP will corepresent the Glénat portfolio with Glénat foreign rights agent Julia Skorcz.
"I will be forever grateful to Jacques Glénat for having given me the chance 12 years ago to represent Glénat's world English rights. It was the opportunity that Mr. Glenat gave me that motivated me to grow not only Glénat's sales but the profile of French comics in North America in UK in general," Hahnenberger wrote in an email to PW. "I am happy to have contributed Glenat’s world expansion and significant growth to their world English rights sales."
