PPN Conference Will Address 'Publishing for the Greater Good'
The Publishing Professionals Network meets Friday, April 26, in Berkeley, Calif., on the theme of "Publishing for the Greater Good." Novelist Aya de Léon (A Spy in the Struggle), Berkeley’s poet laureate and an acquiring editor for Fighting Chance Books—a climate-fiction imprint of hybrid publisher She Writes Press—will deliver the opening keynote titled “Every Story Is a Climate Story: How Publishing Can Help Solve the Climate Crisis.”
Breakout sessions will take place throughout the daylong conference, with more than 30 panelists participating across nine panel topics including AI, book promotions, agenting, and printing and manufacturing. Winners of the Bay Area Women in Publishing’s 2023 and 2024 Robin Seaman Award will present a panel on professional development, and a panel on equitable and innovative business models, moderated by Joanna Vondeling, will include Berrett-Koehler CEO Praveen Madan, Happenstance Type-O-Rama’s Maureen Forys, and Guba Books co-founder Raya Rahman.
