Linda Ewing and Jeremy M. Davies Take the Helm at Coffee House
Minneapolis-based indie publisher Coffee House Press has announced the appointment of Linda Ewing to executive director and the promotion of Jeremy M. Davis to editor-in-chief. Ewing and Davis will share the responsibilities of the role of publisher, with Davies leading the press's editorial vision and literary sensibility and Ewing focusing on sustainability and executive leadership.
Ewing, who has more than 30 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, was appointed by the Coffee House board of directors to the role of interim executive director early last year following the resignation of Anitra Budd in August 2022. In May 2023, shortly after Ewing joined Coffee House, the press was rocked by a wave of further resignations, losing one-third of its staff.
Davies joined Coffee House last summer as executive editor. Previously, he had served as executive editor at McNally Editions, senior editor at And Other Stories, and editor at Farrar, Strauss & Giroux. He began his publishing career in 2005 as an editorial assistant at Dalkey Archive Press. He is also he author of three novels and a collection of short fiction.
"We are delighted to announce these key appointments of two executives who have already proven their ability to lead Coffee House Press," said Patricia Beithon, president of Coffee House's board of directors, in a statement. "Their strong collaboration is well established and they will continue to play pivotal roles on our professional leadership team.”
