Italian Printer GV Expands in North America
GV Group, one of Italy’s largest book printers, has reached an agreement to acquire a majority stake in P.A. Hutchison, the 113 year-old textbook and educational material printer based in Mayfield, Pa. The acquisition follows GV Group’s 2021 purchase of Lake Book Manufacturing headquartered in Illinois.
When the deal is completed, GV Group head Fabio Franceschi said, the company plans to double PAH’s production capacity within a few year, primarily through the installation of four-color web printing technology. The PAH purchase expands the range of services GV Group printers can offer American educational publishers, and the printer plans to continue to expand its international footprint.
"Our presence and commitment to the United States are strong and will remain so in the future," said Franceschi in a statement. "We believe that the American market is strategic to fully realize the potential of the Group."
Chris Hutchison, the 4th member of the family to lead the eponymous printer, said he looks forward to working with GV Group to expand PAH’s manufacturing platform in the U.S.
