U.K. Indie Publisher Canongate Granted B Corp Certification
Independent publisher Canongate has been granted B Corp Certification, becoming the very first U.K.–based trade publisher to receive this accreditation.
According to B Lab Global, the nonprofit that manages the certification, B Corp Certification "is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials."
Globally, there are currently over 8,000 Certified B Corporations in more than 150 industries, with companies required to recertify every three years. Based on the B Impact assessment, Canongate Books earned an overall score of 88.3, with 80 the threshold required for B Corp Certification.
