Ben Hyman Named Editorial Director of Schocken

Ben Hyman has been named editorial director of Schocken, effective July 8. He will report to Knopf publisher and editor-in-chief Jordan Pavlin.

Hyman comes to Schocken from Bloomsbury, which he joined in 2017, most recently serving as senior editor. At Bloomsbury, he edited nonfiction, including award-winning titles such as Isaac Butler's The Method, Kidada Williams's I Saw Death Coming, Yepoka Yeebo's Anansi's Gold, Shelly Puhak's The Dark Queens, and Daniel Sokatch's Can We Talk About Israel? Hyman began his publishing career at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Hyman's appointment comes just weeks after the departure of Pantheon Schocken publisher Lisa Lucas in what Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group president and publisher Maya Mavjee described in a memo to staff as a "restructure."
