FireShip Press to Close

Tucson, Ariz.–based indie publisher FireShip Press will cease operations as the end of August. The closure was announced in an email to FireShip authors last week, just three months after the death of FireShip owner Mary Lou Monahan in March. Monahan cofounded the press with her husband, Thomas Grunder, and took the helm after his death in 2011.

FireShip focuses on nautical and historical fiction and nonfiction, and also publishes genre fiction— including murder mysteries, thrillers, and romance—as well as select nonfiction under its Cortero imprint. Its recent titles include D.E. Stockman's On the Waves of Glory: The Quest of Captain Guy de Kersaint and Edward McSweegan's The Fever Hut
