Melanie Tortoroli Promoted to Executive Editor at Norton
Melanie Tortoroli has been promoted to executive editor at W.W. Norton.
Tortoroli first joined Norton in 2008 as an editorial assistant, rising to the position of assistant editor. She left in 2012, spending five years at Viking and doing a stint at Amazon, where she was a senior editor. In 2017 she returned returned to Norton as a senior editor, working to expand the trade department's cookbook line and to acquire general nonfiction. She was named a VP in 2023.
Tortoroli's publications include J. Kenji López-Alt's The Wok and Every Night Is Pizza Night, Katy Hessel's The Story of Art Without Men by Katy Hessel, and Rachel E. Gross's Vagina Obscura. She has also acquired forthcoming projects from Stella Parks, Clarissa Wei, Mayukh Sen, Fuchsia Dunlop, and Grace Farris.
