DK Acquires A Kids Book About Series

DK has acquired the A Kids Book About series from the children's media company A Kids Co., establishing DK's first children's editorial and creative team in the U.S. 

As an established partner, DK has previously licensed and sold a portion of the published A Kids Book About list; with this acquisition deal in place, it will now take on the global sale of the entire frontlist and A Kids Book About back catalog of over 170 titles.

The A Kids Book About series was launched in 2019 by author and entrepreneur Jelani Memory with the inaugural title A Kids Book About Racism, which sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide. Following the sale of A Kids Book About, A Kids Co. will continue to produce new podcasts, operate the direct to consumer business, seek brand partnerships outside of books, and pursue additional multi-media opportunities.

Memory will join the DK licensing division as VP and publisher and will report to Mark Searle, managing director of DK licensing.

Recent A Kids Book titles include A Kids Book About Equality by Billie Jean King, A Kids Book About Periods by Jessica Biel, A Kids Book About Imagination by LeVar Burton, and A Kids Book About Beauty by Ashley Graham.
