2024 Disability Futures Fellows Announced

The final cohort of the Disability Futures Fellowship, supported by the Ford Foundation and Mellon Foundation, has been announced. The program celebrates and awards disabled cultural practitioners across the U.S. 

Among this year's 20 recipients are nine writers and poets:

  • Anne Finger, writer 
  • Cyrée Jarelle Johnson, poet 
  • Elliott Fukui, organizer and writer
  • Gaelynn Lea, musician, composer, writer, and activist
  • Johanna Hedva, writer, artist, and musician
  • Kay Ulanday Barrett, poet, essayist, and cultural strategist
  • Luz Guerra, activist-writer, storyteller, and historian
  • Saleem Hue Penny, hybrid poet
  • Walela Nehanda, writer and cultural worker
