Niko Stratis and Tuck Woodstock Launch Girl Dad Press
Journalists Niko Stratis and Tuck Woodstock have launched Girl Dad Press, an independent publisher focused on work by trans authors and artists.
Girl Dad's inaugural title will be a reissue of the 2023 self-published book 2 Trans 2 Furious: An Extremely Serious Journal of Transgender Racing Studies, co-edited by Stratis and Woodstock. 2 Trans 2 Furious, which sold out its initial 2,000-copy print run and won Best LGBTQ+ Anthology at the 2024 Lambda Literary Awards, is slated for August 15. Through partnerships with AK Press, LitDistCo, and Metonymy Press, the book will be made available in retail stores throughout the United States and Canada for the first time.
Girl Dad, which bills itself as "a trans press for all freaks," will be co-run by Stratis, who based in Toronto, and Woodstock, who is based in Brooklyn. Per a release, the press is "committed to the creation of projects like 2 Trans 2 Furious: work that allows trans people to make genre-defying art without compromise or explanation."
