Independent Publishers Caucus Adopts Resolution Supporting Ceasefire in Gaza
The Independent Publishers Caucus has adopted a resolution calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution was submitted to the IPC Steering Committee by a member press in May, put to a vote on June 12, and ratified by a quorum majority on July 16.
“I believe member organizations should be responsive, inclusive, nimble, and forward-looking,” said Daniel O’Brien, IPC’s executive director. “The Steering Committee responded to the resolution, met with members and adapted the resolution, and respectfully carried out a directly democratic process from beginning to end. I am proud of both IPC’s leadership, as well as all the members who engaged in this meaningful dialogue, and the ultimate decision to support the resolution for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. I think IPC is a stronger organization for having moved through this process.”
IPC's current member presses include Akashic Books, Archipelago Books, Astra Publishing House, Beacon Press, Catapult, City Lights Publishing, Coffee House Press, Deep Vellum, the Dorothy Project, Drawn & Quarterly, Europa Editions, Feminist Press, Graywolf Press, Grove Atlantic, Haymarket Books, New Directions Publishing, the New Press, New York Review Books, Other Press, Princeton University Press, Seven Stories Press, Tin House, Transit Books, Unnamed Press, Verso Books, Wave Books, and others.
