Regalo Press Preorder Campaign Supports Child Welfare Group
Philanthropic publisher Regalo Press, founded in 2022 by Gretchen Young and distributed by Simon & Schuster, donates to its authors’ designated charities as part of its business model. For child rights lawyer Andrew Bridge’s forthcoming The Child Catcher: A Fight for Justice and Truth (Sept.), Regalo is partnering with CASA of California, an organization of Court Appointed Special Advocates for children in the foster care system.
During the preorder campaign, CASA members and supporters receive a 20% discount on copies of Bridge’s book, and 50% of the author’s royalties will be donated to the members' designated CASA organizations. When non-CASA members preorder, 25% of the author’s royalties go to CASA. After publication, Regalo Press will continue making a charitable donation to CASA based on Bridge’s book sales.
Regalo initially extended the preorder offer to the 56 CASA county chapters in California, and the publisher will promote the book to 941 state and local chapters nationwide. Across the U.S., CASA assigns volunteer advocates to work with children who have experienced abuse or neglect. The volunteers interact with child welfare professionals, educators, and service providers to help young people navigate the legal system.
In The Child Catcher, Bridge details his litigation on behalf of children in Alabama’s state-run psychiatric institutions. His 2008 debut, Hope’s Boy: A Memoir, recalled his 11 years as a foster child in Los Angeles County.
