WAWOG Calls for Boycott of PEN America

Writers Against the War on Gaza (WAWOG), a self-described "coalition of media, cultural, and academic workers" has called for a boycott of PEN America. In a statement, the organization alleged that "PEN America’s craven leadership has failed over and over again to live up to the charter which is supposed to guide its work." It goes on to list a number of grievances against PEN America, including removing Palestinian writer Randa Jarrar from an event earlier this year without apology, systematically ignoring threats and and other risks posed to Palestinian writers, and restricting the freedom of speech of its own staff.
