Craig Young Joins Authors Equity as President of Sales
Craig Young has joined Authors Equity, the hybrid publishing startup announced earlier this year and headed up by three big-name industry veterans, as president of sales. Young comes to Authors Equity from Little, Brown, where he was VP and deputy publisher until being let go in June. Prior to Little, Brown, Young served stints at Ecco, Hachette, and HarperCollins
"Craig began to work with us on a short-term basis earlier this summer, and his positive impact was so immediate, we're very excited he's agreed to make it official," AE cofounder, CEO, and publisher Madeline McIntosh wrote in an email. "Craig has an impeccable reputation with agents and authors thanks to his superlative instincts as a reader and student of the market, and to his commitment to supporting books not just at pub date, but over the long term."
McIntosh added that the new position will see Young "take the lead in setting our retail strategy for each book and in executing it in partnership with Simon & Schuster," which distributes for AE, "and with booksellers globally. As with the rest of our team, he will be closely involved in developing our list of authors and books and will participate in all aspects of publication and brand development."
