One World to Host Banned Books Week Event in Atlanta

One World will host an event, "Free Your Mind: A Night to Celebrate Our Stories and the Freedom to Tell Them," on September 26 at the Martin Luther King Chapel at Morehouse College in Atlanta as part of Banned Books Week.

The event, billed as an evening of conversation and music centered on storytelling and free speech, will feature such authors as Ta-Nehisi Coates, Nikole Hannah-Jones, Ibram X. Kendi, and Bryan Stevenson. The featured authors will be joined by Skip Dye, chair of the intellectual freedom task force at Penguin Random House, and the event will be emceed by LaTosha Brown of Black Voters Matter. Atlantans who have been affected by book bans will also speak. 

The event is produced in partnership with Firelight Media, which supports documentary filmmakers of color, and with funding from the Open Society Foundations. All ticket sales will go toward venue costs. Books from participating authors will be available for sale at the event by 44th & 3rd Bookseller in Atlanta. For more information, click here
