Titan Plans New Edition of Bilal’s Classic ‘The Nikopol Trilogy’
Titan Comics announced plans to publish a new edition of the long out-of-print French science-fiction cult classic graphic novel, The Nikopol Trilogy, by comics artist Enki Bilal.
Titan Comics will publish a new edition of The Nikopol Trilogy in March 2016 that will feature a new English translation. Out-of-print since it was last released around 2002 (by its original publisher Humanoids), the book was described in the PW review as “an extraordinary comics literary achievement and a crackling good story.” Used hardcover copies of the book are priced as high $800.
It’s the story of Alcide Nikopol, who returns to a war-ravaged earth after being sentenced to float in space for 30 years in a state of suspended animation. He returns to earth to find that the ancient Egyptian gods have reawakened and plan to reclaim their domination over humanity.
Titan editor Lizzie Kaye said "It has been out in English before, but many, many years ago. It’s one of those books that you want for your own collection so you obsessively watch listings just to hopefully get one. I’m beyond excited and it’s going to be wonderful.”
