Pride and Less Prejudice to Host Fourth Annual #BannedTogether Auction
The nonprofit Pride and Less Prejudice (PLP) will host its fourth annual #BannedTogether virtual auction from September 26-29. Since 2019, PLP has raised more than $250,000 to donate more than 16,000 LGBTQ-inclusive books to Pre-K-third-grade classrooms in all 50 states. The goal of this year's auction is to raise $20,000 to send 1,600 free LGBTQ-inclusive books to elementary schools across the U.S.
The 2024 virtual auction, which coincides with Banned Books Week, features items and experiences donated by authors Casey McQuiston, Alice Oseman, and Chris Colfer, as well as celebrities Janelle Monáe, Daniel Radcliffe, Bobby Berk, Jinkx Monsoon, Billie Jean King, Jason Mraz, Elvira, Big Freedia, Lance Bass, Kristin Chenoweth, boygenius, Lily Tomlin, Sara Bareilles, Alan Cumming, Hannah Gadsby, Cameron Esposito, Margaret Cho, Rufus Wainwright, and Lisa Ann Walter.
