Rivertowns to Publish New Book by Peter Osnos

Rivertowns Books will publish LBJ and McNamara: The Vietnam Partnership Destined to Fail, a new book by PublicAffairs founder and former Random House editor Peter Osnos, on November 12. The book is adapted from an 18-part series Osnos published earlier this year on his Substack Platform.

"Having been thinking about this project for so long," wrote Osnos in a post announcing the book, "I continue—really—to be surprised that in the vast array of books about the American decade in Vietnam, relatively little has been written about how so many people in leadership, especially President Johnson and Robert McNamara, the men most responsible for policy decisions, got those decisions so wrong. This explanation is what the book is about."
