Sarah Crichton Books Nabs Maria Sharapova Memoir
Sarah Crichton at Sarah Crichton Books / Farrar, Straus and Giroux has acquired North American rights to the memoirs of 28-year-old tennis star Maria Sharapova.
In her own words, Sharapova will share her journey from Siberia to becoming a self-proclaimed “BOSS”—from young immigrant to international athletic sensation. The memoir is scheduled for publication in fall 2017. Sharapova will work with the writer Rich Cohen, who collaborated with Jerry Weintraub on his memoir When I Stop Talking, You’ll Know I’m Dead. Jennifer Rudolph Walsh of William Morris Endeavor/IMG represented Sharapova in the deal.
Sharapova is currently ranked world No. 3 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), and she is the winner of five Grand Slams: Wimbledon (2004), US Open (2006), Australian Open (2008), and French Open (2012 and 2014). During the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, she earned the Silver Medal in Women’s Singles. Sharapova has spent 21 weeks ranked World No. 1 in her career, and has won 32 WTA Tour titles and been named Forbes’s highest-paid female athlete for the past nine years.
