IBPA to Hold Membership Vote on Proposed Merger with PubWest

The boards of directors at the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) and the Publishers Association of the West (PubWest) have voted to approve the merger of the two organizations. A town hall will be held for IBPA members on November 7, and special elections for members of the organizations will be held on November 13 and November 19, respectively.

“Bringing together these two organizations will enhance member benefits, expand trade marketing programming, networking opportunities and education, and provide a single destination for all of your association needs,” IBPA CEO Andrea Fleck-Nisbet wrote in an email to members on October 22. “Most importantly, it will amplify the collective voices of independent publishers to more effectively advocate for industry representation, support legislation that protects independent businesses, and work to improve business practices with trading partners.”
