New John Green Imprint, Crash Course Books, to Launch in March
John Green will publish his second book of nonfiction, Everything Is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistence of Our Deadliest Infection, on March 18 with a new imprint at Penguin Young Readers, Crash Course Books. The announced first print run is 500,000 copies.
The imprint, per the release, is an “extension” of the bestselling author hit YouTube channel of the same name, and is led by Dutton Children’s president and publisher Julie Strauss-Gabel. Two new series, Crash Course Revolutions and Crash Course Lit, will follow in fall 2025.
Everything Is Tuberculosis, the publisher said, “traces the journey of a young tuberculosis patient in Sierra Leonne woven together with the scientific and social histories of how this disease has shaped our world and how our choices will shape the future of tuberculosis. This book builds on Green’s nationally recognized advocacy for increased awareness of the healthcare inequities that allow this curable, treatable infectious disease to also be the deadliest, killing 1.5 million people every year.”
“This book is the culmination of a long journey toward trying to understand how a disease that has been curable since the 1950s continues to kill over a million people every year,” Green said in a statement. I’m thrilled to be publishing it as the first title from Crash Course Books, and so grateful to all the TB researchers and survivors whose generosity with me made it possible for me to tell this story.”
