PRH, United for Libraries Partner on Grant Program
Penguin Random House and United for Libraries have announced a new $25,000 grant program to assist rural and small libraries in need across the country. Grant funds will support Friends of Library or nonprofit groups that support and fundraise for libraries in their communities. In addition, in-kind book donation grants of $500 will be awarded to 20 libraries for Penguin Random House titles.
The program comes as the freedom to read in the United States faces increased attacks in the form of book bans and challenges. Applications for the program will be open February 3–17, 2025, and applicants will be notified by March 10. United for Libraries will present free virtual informational sessions on how to apply.
“Small and rural libraries are community cornerstones,” said Skip Dye, senior VP of library sales and digital strategy at PRH, in a statement. “But today—when the freedom to read is under attack across the country—they are more important than ever.”
