Christine Dunbar Promoted to Editorial Director of Columbia University Press

Christine Dunbar has been promoted to editorial director of Columbia University Press. She replaces Eric Schwartz, who left Columbia UP in August to become director of NYU Press. (His appointment took effect October 7.)

Most recently a senior editor at Columbia University Press, Dunbar has worked at Columbia UP for 13 years. Originally an intern in the acquisitions department while working on her Ph.D. in Slavic literature from Princeton University, Dunbar was hired permanently as an editorial assistant in 2012. Over the years she was promoted to assistant editor, associate editor, and then editor.

Dunbar acquires books in Asian humanities and literature in translation, and she works closely with Columbia University’s Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures.
