Binc Launches Year-End Fundraising Campaign
Thirty prominent authors, led by inaugural Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation ambassador Ann Patchett and current Binc ambassador Amor Towles, have added their names in support of Binc’s year-end fundraising campaign, “I Stand with Book and Comic Stores.” The campaign kicks off on Tuesday with a $15,000 matching gift from Penguin Random House; all gifts will be matched dollar for dollar up to a total of $15,000. Until December 31, donors at the $100 level will receive one Libro.fm audiobook credit, and donors at the $500+ level will get three audiobook credits.
“Stores need our support more now than ever,” said Binc executive director Pam French, in a release. “Binc is receiving 60% more calls for help from booksellers and comic retailers than before the pandemic. Please join your favorite author to ensure we can continue our commitment to never turn anyone in need away.” (As of November 7, Binc has responded to 138 requests for financial help since September; about half of them are disaster-related.)
