Holtzbrinck Names Häußermann as New CEO

Holtzbrinck Buchverlage announced that Claudia Häußermann will succeed interim CEO Carel Halff, effective December 31. Halff, who will return to consulting, has led the German publishing group on an interim basis for the past two years.

Häußermann has been the commercial managing director at Kiepenheuer & Witsch since January 2013, where she is responsible for marketing, sales, production, business analysis, systems and processes, IT, and human resources. Between 2016 and 2020, she also served as Chief Financial Officer of Holtzbrinck Buchverlage.

Häußermann will oversee Holtzbrinck's German publishing houses, including Argon, Droemer Knaur, Fischer, Fischer Sauerländer, HGV, Kiepenheuer & Witsch, and Rowohlt. "With a deep sense of responsibility and gratitude, I accept the new role and look forward to combining the great tradition of our houses with innovative solutions to meet reader needs and market conditions in the future" she said.
