Foot Traffic Up at B&N, BAM in November
Customer traffic at Barnes & Noble rose 13% in November over November 2023 and increased 5.7% at Books-A-Million. The gains are another indication that bookstore sales got the late holiday shopping season off to a good start during Thanksgiving week.
Foot traffic data collected by Placer.ai showed a noticeable shift in traffic from the third week in November to the final week in the month, due to the much later Thanksgiving holiday in 2024 compared to 2023. Traffic in the last week of November was up 38.4% at B&N and 37% at BAM, a sign that December could be a busy month for bookstores. Earlier, independent booksellers reported a solid Thanksgiving week.
