Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon to Leave Boom! Studios
Following the purchase of comics and graphic novel publisher Boom! Studios by Penguin Random House last year, editor-in-chief Matt Gagnon will leave the company on March 1. Boom!, now an imprint of Random House Worlds, will conduct a search for a new editor-in-chief.
Gagnon, a 2018 PW Star Watch finalist, joined Boom! in 2008, and was named editor-in-chief in 2010. During his tenure, the publisher grew exponentially, adding a number of imprints and inking partnerships including one with 20th Century Fox.
"While I only had the opportunity to work with Matt for a short time, his reputation at BOOM! as well as within the industry at large is the stuff of legend," Michael Kelly, publisher of BOOM! Studios, said in a statement. Gagnon added: "A truly epic journey that started for me in 2008 at the age of 27 now finds me at 44, much changed and feeling so grateful for the legacy I'm leaving behind. The time is right for me to turn the page."
