Layoffs Hit Silver Sprocket

Three employees at San Francisco–based indie comics publisher and comics shop Silver Sprocket have been laid off, owner and founder Avi Ehrlich confirmed via social media, following a 15th-anniversary fundraising effort last year. Ehrlich cited economic strain, the bankruptcy of Diamond Comic Distributors, and a recent flood among the factors leading to the "heartbreaking decision."

The three employees—Sarah Maloney, Simon Jane Robrock, and Jack Hengesbach—have held varying roles in retailing, event coordination, wholesale management, and art design and worked at Silver Sprocket were seven years, four years, and one year, respectively. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support the laid off employees while they look for work.
