2025 PEN Awards Longlists Announced

PEN America has announced the longlists for its 2025 Literary Prizes, which confer more than $350,000 to writers and translators. 

This year's nominees across the awards' 11 categories include Kaveh Akbar, Venita Blackburn, Percival Everett, Elisa Gabbert, Phillip Lopate, Miranda July, Maggie Nelson, Daniel Saldaña París, Lucy Sante, Olga Tokarczuk, Calvin Trillin, and Tiya Miles.

Last year, PEN America canceled its Literary Awards ceremony after a 28 authors withdrew books from consideration or declined awards, including nine of the 10 nominees for the organization's top prize, the PEN/Jean Stein Book Award.
