
IPC’s Indie Press Month Winner
Page 1 Books in Albuquerque, N.M., has won the second-annual Indie Press Month display contest, presented by the Independent Publishers Caucus (IPC). The bookshop was awarded a first-place cash prize of $400 for their in-store table display featuring hand-made signage, bookmarks, and their “creative use of social media to educate and inform readers about indie presses,” according to a press release.
IPC has also selected three finalists, including Aaron’s Books in Lititz, Penn., for a three-tiered display; Magic City Books in Tulsa, Okla., for a hand-made window signage” and Bookshop Santa Cruz, in Calif., for a large-scale use of IPC’s marketing assets. These finalists will each receive $50 in co-op funding.
Five other stores will also receive co-op marketing for promoting Indie Press Month to their audiences over social media, including Honest Dog Books in Bayfield, Wis.; Prologue Bookshop in Columbus, Ohio; Seminary Co-Op in Chicago, Ill.; Tomorrow Bookstore in Indianapolis, Ind.; and Black Rock Books in Buffalo, N.Y.
The IPC awards these bookshops through their Indie-to-Indie program, a partnership co-facilitated by the Independent Bookseller and sponsored by Bookshop.org and Shelf Awareness.
