Scribd Names Eric Shoup Chief Operating Officer
Scribd, the e-book subscription service, has named Eric Shoup to be its new chief operating officer.
Before joining Scribd, Shoup was chief product officer at Ancestry.com from 2008 to 2015; prior to that position he was general manager, director of ProStores at eBay from 2007-2008
Scribd CEO and cofounder Trip Adler said Shoup’s responsibilities will include managing and scaling the company’s overall operations and growing the Scribd subscriber base.
Adler pointed to Shoup’s, “deep experience in product and general management, business development and marketing of consumer technology brands.” During Shoup’s time at Ancestry.com, Adler said: “the company’s subscriber count more than tripled in size.”
Adler said, “Last year, we hit many milestones: We introduced content from all of the “Big Five” publishers to our subscription service and launched two new verticals—comic books and sheet music. Our focus for 2016 year is scalable, sustainable growth, and we’re excited to announce that we have a new executive leader to help us reach our goals.”
