Thurber House Announces 2016 Humor Prize Judges
John Kenney, Celia Rivenbark, and Bruce Tracy will select the winner of this year's Thurber Prize for American Humor, given in honor of author and cartoonist James Thurber by the national literary center, the Thurber House.
Kenney, who contributes to the New Yorker, won the Thurber Prize in 2014 for his book Truth in Advertisting. Rivenbark is a seven-time author and a 2005 Thurber finalist. Lastly, Tracy is the senior editor at Workman Publishing.
The annual award will be presented at a ceremony at Carolines on Broadway in New York City on Monday, September 26, 2016. The evening’s host will be Liza Donnelly, a 2014 Thurber finalist for her book Women on Men, and a 2015 Thurber judge.
The Thurber Prize is to be conferred upon the author and publisher of the outstanding book of humor writing published in the United States between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2015. Submissions of humorous writing, both fiction and nonfiction, are now being accepted for the 2016 Prize. Entries must be submitted no later than Tuesday, April 1, 2016, to Thurber House, 77 Jefferson Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
