Whiting Nonfiction Grant Announced
The Whiting Foundation is granting $35,000 to as many as three creative nonfiction writers with works in progress. The Whiting Creative Nonfiction Grant serves to enable writers to finish their books while also fostering creativity and quality in creative nonfiction writing.
To qualify for the grant, creative nonfiction writers must be under contract with a publisher and at least two years into their work. The application deadline is May 1. Whiting welcomes submissions for works of history, cultural or political reportage, biography, memoir, the sciences, philosophy, criticism, food or travel writing, and personal essays, among other categories. The Whiting Creative Nonfiction Grant is the latest effort by the Whiting Foundation to support the ecosystem in which writers work. Its literature program also includes the Whiting Award which presents 10 emerging writers with $50,000 each year.
