Finalists for L.A. Times Book Prizes Named

The honorees and finalists of the 36th Annual Los Angeles Times Book Prizes include novelist James Patterson who will receive the Innovator's Award during the ceremony on April 9. The award recognizes cutting-edge business models, technology, or applications of narrative art.

U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera will also be honored with the 2015 Robert Kirsch Award for lifetime achievement during the Book Prizes. The award commemorates Herrera's 45-year career as a writer, teacher, and activitst, as well as his literary contributions. 

The 50 finalists of the L.A. Times Book Prizes include Viet Thanh Nguyen, Mary Beard, Robin Coste Lewis, and more in 10 categories.
