MoCCA Arts Festival Unveils 2016 Programming
The Society of Illustrators has released the programming schedule for the MoCCA Arts Festival, the annual indie comics festival slated for April 2-3, 2016 at a new location, the Metropolitan West at 639 West 46th Street, MoCCA's primary exhibition venue. Programming will be held nearby at the Ink48 Hotel, 653 11th Avenue at 48th Street.
This year’s Guests of Honor include comics artists Phoebe Gloeckner (Diary of a Teenage Girl), National Book Award nominee Noelle Stevenson (Nimona), and Diane Noomin (Wimmen’s Comix). Look for panels featuring Sonny Liew (The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye), Gabrielle Bell (Truth is Fragmentary) and animator Bill Plympton (Cheatin’) among others.
Festival programming was organized by Bill Kartalopoulos, Series editor for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Best American Comics. The MoCCA Arts Festival is organized by The Society of Illustrators, which hosts the MoCCA Gallery at its permanent collection on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
Admission to the MoCCA Arts Festival is $5 per day and tickets are available at the Metropolitan West venue, and on-site at Ink48 during programming.
