Sir Terry Pratchett to Receive SFWA Award
The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) announced that the late Sir Terry Pratchett has been named the recipient of the Kate Wilhelm Solstice Award, recently renamed from the Solstice Award.
Pratchett, who died last year, is best known for his bestselling Discworld series of 41 novels. In addition to his long career, Pratchett donated his time and money to orangutan conservation efforts and Alzheimer’s research, and he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth for his service to literature in 2009.
The Kate Wilhelm Solstice Award recognizes individuals who have had a significant impact on the science fiction or fantasy landscape and who have consistently made a major positive difference within the speculative fiction field.
As part of the Nebula Awards, Pratchett's award will be presented during the annual SFWA Nebula Conference, which will run from May 12-15th in Chicago.
