Reshen-Doty, Benay Enterprises Honored by SBA
Dawn Reshen Doty, president of Benay Enterprises, a Danbury, Connecticut firm that provides back office support for publishers, has been named Connecticut’s Minority Small Business Owner for 2016 by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Benay Enterprises is among a number of Connecticut small businesses honored by the annual U.S. Small Business Administrations awards.
Robert H. Nelson, the SBA’s acting district director, said, “We are extremely excited to honor a truly amazing line up of small business owners and champions this year.”
Reshen-Doty is also publisher of For Beginners, a nonfiction illustrated book publisher owned by Benay Enterprises. Benay was founded by Doty’s father, Neil Reshen, in 1986 and she has run the company for 26 years. Benay Enterprises provides back office support to independent publishers, including bookkeeping, foreign rights sales, royalty payment, payrolls and other services. Among its clients are Akashic Books, Granta, Soho Press, Tin House and The Overlook Press.
Reshen-Doty said, “Recognition is nice when an organization like the SBA acknowledges the quality of our service and contributions to the state, but I’m most proud of our large base of clients who return to us year after year.”
