Europe Comics Hosts Florence Cestac, Comics Panels at LBF 2016
Europe Comics, a digital initiative by 13 European comics publishers focused on rights and promotion, will hold a series of events during the London Book Fair, held April 12-14, including an appearance by celebrated French comics artist Florence Cestac.
Working in partnership with London Book Fair and London Book and Screen Week, (April 11-17), Europe Comics has organized a conversation on Wednesday at London's House of Illustration between Florence Cestac (the only woman to win the prestigious Grand Prix Festival d’Angouleme), acclaimed U.K cartoonist Posy Simonds (Gemma Bovary) and the moderator, noted comics journalist Paul Gravatt. Earlier that day Gravatt will also moderate a discussion about the impact of digital comics on the comics medium and marketplace.
Europe Comics will be exhibiting at stand 2B11 in the Graphic Novels area at the London Book Fair. The digital licensing initiative will also host a reception for authors, among them Sylvan Runberg (Orbital), at the French Institute of London and the initiative has organized a live sketching event as part of London Book and Screen Week.
A coalition of nine comics publishers, two rights agents, and an audio-visual company (from eight different European countries), the Europe Comics initiative is working to build a pan-Euro comics catalogue and to promote and sell European Comics in North America and Europe.
