Trajectory, DC Ink Digital Comics Distribution Deal
Trajectory, a digital content distributor and technology developer, has reached an agreement with DC Entertainment to expand access to DC digital comics in the library market as well as to global e-book retailers.
The digital distribution deal will focus initially on expanding access to DC digital comics in the library market beginning April 19 via library digital vendor OverDrive. By the summer 2016, Trajectory will expand DC Entertainment’s digital distribution to its international network of e-book retailers in North America, Europe, Asia, and South America.
Trajectory cofounder and CEO Jim Bryant, said the agreement will focus on titles in the DC Entertainment Essential Graphic Novels, a published list of the publisher’s extensive backlist. Bryant said DC has “thousands” of graphic novels on its backlist and that DC will “start with several hundred, with the goal of making its entire backlist available in digital.”
Trajectory will make new books available on a weekly basis. Initial titles available in libraries via OverDrive will incude Batman: The Killing Joke, Wonder Woman Vol. 1 Blood, The Sandman Vol. 1: Preludes & Nocturnes, and other DC comic book classics.
Bryant said “DC is stepping up its library distribution,” and the deal represents “more demand for comics in public libraries over the last 18 months.”
