Nominations for the 2016 Glyph Awards
Julian Voloj and Claudia Ahlering’s Ghetto Brother, Stephane Metayer, David Tako and Nicolas Safe’s Tephlon Funk! and Erika Alexander and Tony Puryear’s Concrete Park are among the nominees for the 2016 Glyph Awards for the best comics by and about people of color.
Founded in 2005 by journalist Rich Watson, The Glyph awards are intended to encourage diversity and add new artists and perspectives to the comics medium.

Other 2016 Glyph Awards nominees include Jamar Nicholas’s Detective Boogaloo: Hip Hop Cop (Best Comic Strip), Alex Simmons’s Blackjack: There Came a Dark Hunter (Best Male Character), Juliana Smith and Ronald Nelson’s (H)Afrocentric (Best Female Charater), and John Jennings’s Blue Hand Mojo: Dust to Dust (Best Artist).
The 11th annual Glyph Awards will be announced and presented at the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention, held May 20, 2016 at the African American Museum in Philadephia, Pa.
