'Half Truths' Brings Abingdon Author’s Sales to 2M
Half Truths: God Helps Those Who Help Themselves and Other Things the Bible Doesn't Say by Adam Hamilton has sold over 13,000 copies since its release on April 12 according to Nielsen BookScan, bringing the author’s career sales to two million units sold.
The book, published by Abingdon, debunks quotes that are often attributed to Christianity but miss the mark on biblical accuracy. Examples include “Everything happens for a reason,” “God helps those who help themselves,” “Love the sinner, hate the sin,” and more. Half Truths debuted at #7 on PW's Religion Nonfiction chart in April.
“I wasn’t always able to find the origins for the sayings, but they usually were anchored to scriptures,” said Hamilton while speaking to PW. “I wanted to raise questions about these so-called truths and gently point out the sound theological truth.”
Hamilton's past books include John: The Gospel of Light; 24 Hours That Changed the World; Enough: Discovering Joy through Simplicity and Generosity; When Christians Get It Wrong; and Seeing Gray in a World of Black and White.
