ComicBlitz Debuts Web-based Subscription App for Digital Comics
ComicBlitz, a digital comics subscription service offering access to thousands of comics for $9.99 a month, is releasing a mobile-responsive web app that will be supported by all devices.
The new web app will allow fans to stream access to comic book periodicals as well as graphic novels. ComicBlitz offers access to comic book periodicals and graphic novels from a range of independent comics publishers, among them, Valiant, Abrams ComicArts, Dynamite, Action Lab, Lerner Graphic Universe, Capstone, Zenescope, Paper Films and more. ComicBlitz offers new subscribers the first month free of charge.
ComicBlitz is among several services offering subscription access to comics and graphic novels, among them are Scribd, Marvel Unlimited, and Comixology Unlimited, Amazon’s digital comics marketplace.
The web app is supported by desktop PCs and Macs as well as smartphones using any OS. The company currently only supports a native iOS app (an Android app is coming). Offering a web app expands the number of fans that can use the service.
ComicBlitz founder Jordan Plosky said the service is adding new comics content every month. In addition, he said the web-based app allows the service to “to reach exponentially more comic readers and introduce new readers to the stories and characters we all love.”
