Graphic Novel Finalists for the L.A. Times Book Prize
Titles by Iranian cartoonist Mana Neyestani, cousins Jillian and Mariko Tamaki, and the New Yorker’s Roz Chast, were among the five titles nominated in the graphic novel category for the 35th annual L.A. Times Book Prizes.
Finalists for the annual L.A. Times Book Prizes were announced March 4 and include fifty nominees in 10 categories. A complete list of nominees in all categories is available here. The L.A. Times Book Prizes will be awarded to books published in 2014 and the winners will be announced on April 18 at USC's Bovard Auditorium.
Finalists for the 2015 L.A. Times Book Prize for graphic novels include Neyestani’s An Iranian Metamorphosis (Uncivilized Books), the Tamaki cousins’ This One Summer (First Second), Jaime Hernandez’s The Love Bunglers (Fantagraphics); Chast’s Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant? A Memoir (Bloomsbury), and Olivier Schrauwen’s Arsène Schrauwen (Fantagraphics).
Three of the graphic novel finalists, This One Summer, The Love Bunglers, and Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant, were also picked as 2014 PW Best Books.
