ECPA Acquires Christie Awards
In a new agreement going into effect on September 1, the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association is assuming ownership and administration of the Christy Awards, which recognize excellence in the Christian Fiction genre.
The ECPA will operate the Christy Award program under a license from the owner of the Christy Award trademark, with intentions to “protect, preserve, and advance the name and spirit of the awards,” according to Stan Jantz, executive director of ECPA. Consequently, the association has canceled the fiction category in the ECPA Christian Books Award program, opting instead to continue following the guidelines for submission of the Christys. The submission and judging process for the Christys will be distinct from the Christian Book Award, and the event that recognizes the Christy Award winners will be held separately from ECPA’s Christian Book Award event.
