The Artist's Way coauthor Julia Cameron recently cut a high-six-figure deal with Tarcher to write three, non-Artist's Way books on her own, but it's the continuation of the original million-copy-seller with collaborator and now ex-husband Mark Bryan that's getting the big bucks. Morrow senior editor Toni Sciarra paid reportedly well into seven figures for The Artist's Way at Work, to be written by Bryan with Cameron and Catherine Allen, in a deal negotiated by agents David Vigliano and Alex Smithline. A spring 1998 publication is planned.
And Morrow imprint chief Joann Davis has signed medium/spiritual healer Rosemary Altea's next book in what Davis described as a "major seven-figure deal" negotiated by agent Joni Evans. Davis published Altea's first book, the bestselling The Eagle and the Rose, at Warner, then launched her Eagle Brook imprint (the name partly inspired by Altea's spirit guide) with the May publication of Altea's Proud Spirit. Davis also plans to issue a trade paperback/audiotape, Give the Gift of Healing, in October. Davis defended the big advance, saying that sales of Proud Spirit are still building. The new book, tentatively titled You Own the Power, is a seven-step guide to achieving spiritual attuneness and will probably be published next fall.
