S&S Renews Deal With Nickelodeon
-- 2/9/98
Deeming their four-year partnership a successful one, Simon &Schuster has signed another multi-year agreement with Viacom sister company Nickelodeon. The deal gives S&S the exclusive rights to develop books based on all properties currently appearing or set to appear on Nickelodeon, and for those which Nickelodeon controls publishing rights.
To date, S&S has published about 120 Nickelodeon-based titles, and there are currently 8.5 million books in print. The children's group has published 70 Rugrats books, while Pocket's Minstrel imprint has released 50 other titles. Consumer group president Jack Romanos said the agreement with Nickelodeon is important because "the mass exposure television lends to the books is critical."

S&S's major project for 1998 is to develop nine titles for both children and adults based on the upcoming movie, Rugrats: The Movie.
