As part of the realignment of its management staff, the American Booksellers Association is eliminating the position of director of research, which has been held by Carol Miles for the last 10 years.
According to ABA chief operating officer Oren Teicher, the move is in keeping with the mandate of the association's strategic plan, which calls for researching efforts that are more in line with ABA's new initiatives involving the marketing and branding of independent bookselling. To help guide those programs, the ABA hired Michael Hoynes in October.
Miles will remain at ABA until December 18 and then can be reached at (212) 799-2376.
